This week was our first Twitter Tuesday and so far it has been relatively easy to navigate through twitter! Like Mrs. Haas recommended, I followed some of the authors of the articles we have read for the class, people like Chris Clark, Mark Bekoff, and Barbara J. King. This week I decided to focus my research on penguins in the aves category. One of the articles I found to be very interesting and I even posted it on my twitter was an article about homosexuality among animals. I believed that in animals, mating was instinctual and because humans were more complex and intelligent, that we strayed away from traditional mating bonds. However, in the case of two male penguins, Roy and Silo, they formed a relationship that lasted 6 years. It's crazy to see this behavior being mirrored in animals where I believed they were more instinctual and traditional, especially for the need to survive. One of the posts that my classmates did was about the health benefits on having pet animals. I thought this was really funny because before I convinced my mom to let my family and I get a cat, I would do extensive research and try to find articles like these to show to my mom. I would always tell her, pets have enormous health benefits in hopes of convincing her to let us get an animal. I always believed that animals have enormous health, psychological, and just overall positive benefits on humans.
